One Week Down

Linda Soller | Jan 08, 2024

If you are reading this blog, you have made it through the first week of the first month of the new year 2024. One week down and fifty-one to go. For some of us the beginnings of weeks, months, and years are hard. How are you feeling? Did it come up quickly? Maybe it went by really fast or perhaps it seemed to drag on forever. I remember my father telling be over and over how fast time flew by. He added that it only got faster as you got older. Now we all know that time is time and it’s not faster or slower, the speed is our perception of time. My dad was right.

I might ask what you did with your first week, but I won’t . Each of us deals with the time we have in our own way. I find I have days where I try to fit so much into the day that it goes by in a flash. Other days I find it hard to be motivated. Sometimes I think it would be nice if I could find a balance. Last week was one such week. Church on Sunday and then a lazy Monday. But Tuesday and Wednesday flew by. Well, you get the picture. One afternoon I had a stressful conversation with my cable company via “chat” on my computer. That was an hour of my life I will never get back. Then again, I completed a painting I had been working on for days, which was very satisfying. All in all, it was a pretty average week for me.

The point I am trying to make is you get to plan how to use your time. On Sunday our Drop-In class talked about faith as an active process. Some are called to great things and others of us are called to be kind, supportive, caring, dependable, and so on. Our callings may not make the news or immediately change the world, but they may change the day, week, month, year or even the life of someone. God is pretty resourceful that way. How did you use your faith last week? One week down of a brand-new year. A year to put your faith into action.

Be kind, be brave, have faith!  : )   Linda
