“Commitment” is the very essence of relationship. The nature of commitment is to invoke belief, trust and favor. Be it a marriage, job, community, nation, regardless of what our engagements in life, the key to long lasting success remains in the strength of our commitment to that engagement. The basic building blocks of society simply erode without commitment.
“Commit to Christ” is also such a concept that is so essential to our success towards the pathway to spirituality. We need to understand the importance of building a relationship with Jesus! But this requires commitment to his words. When we refuse to commit we lose out the very joy of struggle and faith. Without commitment the life appears as a series of endless struggle with no destination in sight.
By committing to Christ, we no longer focus on ourselves, but focus on God’s creation. An inner strength is awakened within us. Through this awakened strength we no longer see life’s struggles as difficulties. True commitment allows the love of Christ flow through our heart and finds joy in the midst of the difficulties. We can sense this love and realize the true meaning of life – to know and serve God. In that state love becomes our guide and shows the pathway to spirituality.
Commitment to the church of Christ also gives us insight to building a peaceful and loving community. We are then no longer alone but united to collectively serve God.
