Here are some exciting things happening at First Baptist.
Our ministry council will have their first meeting Thursday evening. The job of the ministry council will be to explore ways our church can minister to our congregation and community. If you would like to serve on the ministry council, please let us know.
English language classes are set to begin this fall! The refugee mission group decided the best way for our church to help refugees in our area is to offer English language classes. At our last business meeting the church gave their unanimous support to move forward with the classes. The church even received a grant to buy books and teaching supplies for students. We will partner with a local Franciscan group to help us teach the classes. I believe that finding partnerships like this is the way forward for church work! Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways so stay tuned for ways you can assist.
Church attendance is up! Easter was a big day for our church, and we continue to build on the momentum. We have had more people, in person, the last few weeks than any time during the pandemic. Plus, we still have a great group of people watching online. Lets’ keep growing!
Our Deacons are taking an active role in leading us forward. The deacons are exploring ways to involve people more in the work of the church. The Deacons scheduled another church workday on June 4th to have the building and grounds looking their best for Pentecost. The deacons are also looking for ushers to help on Sunday morning. If you would like to usher, please let us know!
The Deacons discussed Covid19 protocols at their meeting Sunday and decided not to make any changes at this time. Case numbers for Covid19 are on the rise in our area so this decision makes a lot of sense. That means masks are still required during worship and other indoor gatherings. The deacons will revisit the mask requirement at their June meeting.
Good things are happening at First Baptist. Have you told anyone about the good you see?
Let’s keep up the good work!
