Hope

Linda Soller | Jan 08, 2018

A New Year’s resolution is hope in action. For many of us we enter the coming year hopeful to reach goals. These goals cover all sorts of everyday desires and aims. Unfortunately, many of us also fail to reach our New Year resolutions. Does this mean we lose hope? Maybe, sometimes, just for a while we flounder around and wonder if we will ever obtain that elusive goal. Our hope can ebb, but often, it returns to flow through us again. Hope can withstand our shaky resolve. Hope can even surface when all else fails to rally our spirits. Sometimes our hope travels to places we have never known. We can hope for peace, but not see how it will come or fully understand what we can do to find it. We can hope to stop hunger in the world, but not see a solution on the horizon. We can even hope for happiness, but fail to understand what we must do to achieve it.

Some struggle to experience hope. Battered one too many times by life, they resolve to simply survive. But in that resolution to survive hope is demonstrated. Each time we move forward toward being who we want to be, and who God calls us to be, we are standing on the shoulders of hope. Hope lifts us to reach beyond our normal grasp. Hope inspires us to invest ourselves in change to acquire what is good. Hope is not a single goal, hope is life, renewed each day we awaken. God gives us hope when we might otherwise lose faith.

Lord help me to appreciate the hope you give, to live it, and more importantly to share it. In a world with much to fear, let me feel Your hope, let me be Your hope for those in need, and let me resolve this year to act on Hope.

Have a great week! :o) Linda
