Leadership Crisis

Linda Soller | Oct 06, 2025

I seem to be in the midst of a personal crisis. Lately, disappointments in people in leadership positions have provided a new level of stress. Perhaps you are feeling it too? Frankly I don’t understand any leaders who can overlook the lively hoods of their constituents while they feel none of the pain themselves.  It’s as though they see people as chips in a game. Once the pain reaches them on a personal level they will “suddenly” find compromise.

Even on a much smaller scale I have observed people who consider themselves leaders, desire leadership roles, and yet appear to feel they are above the rules. Rules they helped establish. Lately I seem to encounter leaders who are too self-centered to truly lead. They can’t see the greater goal or greater good above their own desire. These people may be confident but that does not make them a leader.

In making another attempt to read through the Bible (start to finish) I have recently read the story of Moses. It was not unfamiliar to me but reading it again I found solace in his predicament. Moses didn’t see himself as a leader. When God called him, Moses was so bold as to challenge God to find a better person for the job. I think many of us have felt God calling us to do something out of our comfort zone and we do the same thing. Anyway, what comforts me about Moses’ story is that he gradually understood that God was not sending him on a mission alone. God was going to orchestrate the entire thing and be there through it all. God was going to provide the resources Moses would need. It would not feel easy, and it would not go quickly, but it would go as God planned.

When I started to read the Bible again (start to finish) there is a very good chance that God shook His head and thought we will see how far she gets this time. But I did start, and God got me to where I needed to be now in this moment of crises. He is working all around us in ways we can’t imagine, and I remain convinced that He sees and can manage our leadership crisis.

Be strong in the Lord and be kind.
