How does your garden grow?

I must begin with a disclaimer. I’m not good at gardening. That being said I did recently attend the Gardening Symposium in Williamsburg, VA. Why, you may ask. It’s a fair question. My answer is pretty straight forward. The overall theme was historical in nature, it involved English gardens, and it was in Williamsburg. It doesn’t take much to get me to go there. While I didn’t magically become a wonderful gardener it did make me consider the process, the planning, and the potential wonderful results of growing a garden.
Gardens are places of varied sizes, shapes, and contents. Anyone can garden. Different people will meet with different levels of success. Gardens can keep you very busy, provide hours of restful contemplation, and fill your life with beauty and wonder. While skilled gardeners will admit there is much planning and effort involved, I’ve never met one who says the final garden was not worth every minute they devoted to their special passion.
Faith is much like a garden. Faith requires planning (commitment) and effort (prayer and practice). While people of faith come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and offer different contents, there is no denying the end result can be one of beauty and wonder. Some struggle more than others in growing their faith, but God welcomes all gardeners. He appreciates all gardens from small potted gardens to large, lush plots of riotous joy. With this in mind I encourage you to grow your faith. Become a gardener by committing to being more faithful. Put effort into practicing your faith, praying continually, learning, and loving your fellow gardeners. You don’t need to know all the answers to start. You do need to understand that, like an amazing Landscape Architect, God is there to answer questions, help you recover from the wrong choices, and show you the weeds which threaten your success. We Christians are walking the garden path with God. Our time can be productive and rewarding if we use the tools He has provided to help us. If we are passionate about our faith, we will have endless opportunities to plant seeds along the way. How does your garden grow?
Be strong in the Lord and be kind!
