Trust & Peace

Peace is a popular word and a complex word. There is inner peace, peace in a family or community, and the big one – world peace. While it can represent so many different things we all know what we are talking about when the word comes up in conversation. Peace relies on trust. They are partners in healing. One must trust their instincts, their emotions, and their decisions to have inner peace. They have to trust that things will work out and go as God planned. They have to trust that they will be okay, if they are to have inner peace.
When a group, be it family, neighborhood, community, or church, is seeking peace they also have to trust God’s guidance and instruction as they make their way through the process. Peace can be healing, but it requires a renewed level of effort, it requires trust. At this time of year, we sometimes observe an individual’s lack of inner peace driving disruption which can impact the groups around them. While we strive to celebrate the holidays let’s not forget what might trigger disruption. If we recognize the triggers, and trust our hearts, peace is attainable.
World peace is another matter on it’s own. We feel helpless and small when facing such a monumental challenge. No one can snap their fingers and change the world. But we can all pray, trust God is watching and caring for us and be open to the small things we able to do. On step at a time. Like a child’s first step, small yet the start of something big.
Joseph must have suffered from an extreme lack of inner peace when he first learned of Mary’s pregnancy. The event disrupted the peace in their families. But Joseph trusted God, and the message he received was loud and clear. Peace be with you Joseph. Your trust and faith will be a blessing. His trust impacted the entire world.
Trust is the beginning of Peace.
Be kind, be brave, have faith! : ) Linda
