This Saturday our Deacons are going on our annual Deacon retreat. For the past two years we have spent our retreat time focused on planning and strategy but this year we are doing something a bit different. As the spiritual leaders of the church we are going on a Spiritual Renewal Retreat. We are not going to plan, strategize or work on church business. We are going so that our souls will be filled and perhaps overflowing. If we want to be your spiritual leaders, we ourselves must be spiritually fed! Pray for Us!
This Sunday we have several important activities taking place. Of course, worship is the most important and with that, Bible Study, but there are other activities I want you to know about. Right after worship we have the third and final session of our Membership Class. We have had another great group this year and I look forward to their contributions to our church. If you are interested in understanding membership let me know and we can offer the class again. After Bible Study, I am inviting the Children and their families to join me for Pizza with the Pastor. This is a time for me to get to know our children and for the children to get to know their pastor. I’m trying to practice what I Preach! At 12:20 the book bunch will have their discussion on the book, “Pharaoh’s Daughter”. Linda Soller does a wonderful job with the group and If you haven’t already, you should look at the list of Books for this year and think about joining the discussion. Oh, I almost forgot, Sunday afternoon our youth will head out for their fall adventure to the corn maze. A lot of good things are happening at FBC Herndon!
