What's New with You?

Linda Soller | Jan 02, 2023

So, what's new with you? Well, it's a new year so there must be something. Maybe a new job, car, house, or computer? Or maybe you were thinking more along the line of something to do like a new hobby, or new sport, or goal to speak a foreign language?

What? You want a new attitude? Hmm, that sounds interesting. Not something most of us would own up to, but clearly useful. There are these things call New Year Resolutions. They usually include stuff like watching less TV, or losing weight, or getting more exercise, or visiting your family more. Those are pretty straight forward, not that I ever successfully reach my resolution goals, but I get these. An attitude, now that's a new one which is clearly appropriate as it is something new for the new year.

What does a new attitude really represent? Change, I guess. You can't have a new attitude unless there is a change to your old attitude. Easier said than done I suspect. And even if you know the attitude you want to adopt, how do you get there? Sounds like hard work if you ask me. But then you aren't asking me, I'm asking you. I've always thought attitudes were pretty personal things, very specific to their owners. But as I consider our conversation, I'm seeing attitudes as vehicles to change. If you have a bad attitude, much like a flat tire, you change it and you can then move forward again. Pretty clear until you consider what a bad attitude looks like. A tire I can visualize. I can't always see a bad attitude. When I can it's usually in the form of actions or words, maybe even expressions. A person with a bad attitude exhibits that attitude, sometimes without knowing it.

Hmm, yes this is much more complicated than cutting back on TV. But here's the thing, changing an attitude can change a life, and maybe not just yours. It's totally worth considering and most likely well worth the effort.

What was my original question? Oh yes, what's new with you?

Be the love in the world : ) Linda
