Cave Women

Linda Soller | Oct 03, 2022

within two hours of our town. We had the obvious fears. Would we feel claustrophobic, or would it be too slippery? Falling down in public has never appealed to me. As it turns out the first issue was not a problem for us, but then neither of us is very tall. The second issue cropped up now and then, but there were railings, and we had our walking sticks. We came prepared. Another question was, would we really be happy to have visited three caverns in two days? The answer was a resounding yes! It was a lot of walking, but wow! Each cavern had its own feeling and its own special features. We had two amazing tour guides and without them the visits would have been far less impressive. Such an adventure would not be entirely lost on the very young, although we don’t have much memory of our childhood visit. Unfortunately, a visitor must be able to walk the tour on uneven and tight paths. Oh! and there are a lot of stairs in some. For us, these challenges were offset by the amazing features we observed in the caverns. God’s earth is magical.

I bring all this up because I hear people talk about getting old and not doing “things”.  My cousin and I aren’t considered young. We’re fortunate to be able to take such a trip. But it still came down to us to resolve that visiting the caverns was something we really wanted to do. No one scheduled the days for us, and no one dreamed up the idea. We decided what we wanted to do, and we made it happen. Without any regrets we are now proud cave women. What do you want to do?

Be the love in the world  :o)
