The Yarn Yarn Sisterhood announces our 2026 Knitting Olympics! (crochet also fine). We will be starting on the day the winter Olympics start – February 6th and ending on the closing day of February 22nd. There will be 3 events: 1. Mittens and Gloves 2. Hats 3. Scarves and Cowls. You select which project(s) you want to make; you select the pattern; you start the work on the 6th, and you stop on the 22nd (even if not finished).

Here are the basic rules. You select a country (for whatever reason you choose) or you can use the five Olympic Rings colors. You will work in the basic colors of the flag of that country (no more, no less) or the rings. You can make multiple entries in one or more categories. For those who complete one project there will be a bronze medal. For those who complete two projects there will be a silver medal. We will gather all the projects at our February 25th meeting and have a secret ballot vote. The project with the most votes in each event will win gold.

We hope to display our entries on Sunday March 1, and we will photograph the gold medal winners. Stay tuned for more information. If you wish to enter and are not a member of YYS just send your name, and country/rings, and event(s) to yysknitting@gmail.com by February 6th. For medal awarding you will need to get your project(s) to our group before voting on the 25th.

??Our meeting will be at FBC Herndon at 10:00 a.m. on the 25th. If you have questions feel free to email yysknitting@gmail.com
