There’s a Queen song I like called “The Miracle.” The song opens, “Every drop of rain that falls in the Sahara Desert says it all, it’s a miracle. All God’s creations, great and small, the Golden Gate and the Taj Mahal, that’s a miracle.” I could go on, but you get the idea. The song lists so many things in life, both natural and manufactured, that can be considered miracles.

Linda Soller noted in her Sunday school class that people often focus on the big biblical miracles while overlooking the commonplace miracles we experience every day. While watching a TV show about pregnancy with my wife, we realized how many things could go wrong before birth. Every baby’s birth is a miracle, confirming that we are all miracles. “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). We are not here by accident; we have a purpose. God knew us before birth, and we should find comfort in that.

Since there’s no certainty we’ll wake up after falling asleep, waking in the morning can feel like a miracle. When we finally open our eyes, do we thank God? I remember a meme that says, “Here we freaking go again, oh, I mean good morning!” Do we start the day with that attitude? It all depends on our perspective on life. If we view life as a burden, we might resent getting up and starting the day. But if we see life as a gift from God, waking up becomes an opportunity to be grateful. Instead of dreading the morning, we can think, “It’s morning! Thank you, God, for this day and for another chance to serve you and others!”

More importantly, we can begin our day with Him in Bible study and prayer before starting our daily activities. When we dedicate the day to God, we can trust He will be with us, helping us face whatever challenges come our way. As Romans 8:35 asks, “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not hesitate to spare his own Son but gave Him up for us all—can we not trust such a God to provide everything else we need?” With this assurance, we can walk out knowing God’s presence is with us. As we do, let’s look for the little miracles around us and thank Him for each one. Every day is a celebration of life—let’s honor life’s small miracles, no matter how minor. Not only should we celebrate them, but we can also perform miracles for others. You might be someone’s miracle today, so make your day truly miraculous!

Take care,
