Reminder

Sean Roberds | Jan 15, 2014

Do you remember our vision statement?  Well, in case you have forgotten it somehow, here it is; Be the presence of Christ by sharing the love of God one person at a time.  Read it out loud a couple of times and let it sink deep down into your heart.

The physical body of Christ is no longer with us. Christ is in our hearts, indeed, but his physical body ascended to heaven, Acts 1:9-11. So the church becomes the body of Christ, the physical presence of Christ to the world.  Our vision is to be the presence of Christ, which the Bible calls us to be.  So how do we go about such a high calling?

First, we Dedicate to Fellowship. We as the church need each other!  We need to worship together, pray together, support one another and build the sense of community that we find in the early church.  We simply need to be the presence of Christ to each other so we can be the presence of Christ to the world.

To be the presence of Christ we need to Develop Spiritually.  If we are going to be the hands and feet; the eyes and ears; the mind and mouth of Christ, then we need to have a growing relationship with him.  Remember, baptism is the beginning, not the finish line.  We need to grow in our knowledge of scripture and to increase our commitment to the spiritual practices.  To be able to share the love of God to all people involves a deep level of spiritual maturity. Sunday School is not just for Children!

To be the presence of Christ we must Deploy as Servants.  Jesus didn’t stay at the temple or in the synagogue and wait for people to come to him. Jesus went to the people and loved them unconditionally.  We must do the same.  Though he was the Son of God, Jesus did not lord it over the people but understood his role was to be a servant, Philippians 2:5-11. We must do the same.

Warning there may be a pop quiz Sunday so here it is again. Be the presence of Christ by sharing the love of God one person at a time

 I do love you!

 Sean
