It feels like bad things happen in groups. The urban myth is that death comes in threes. People actually find themselves waiting for the next death to strike. Certainly, when things do go badly among groups it can be deflating, discouraging, depressing, and paralyzing.

Grace Inspired Unity

A tornado wipes out the main street of a small town. A hurricane crosses an island leveling buildings and lives. That 100-year flood just happened for the second time in five years. Fires light the sky and incinerate an ancient forest leaving mankind and animals homeless. Tragedy and hardship seem to strike daily.

Inclusive Grace

The picture was powerful yet simple. Fifteen people standing in front of an old cabin wearing the white coats of physicians. A few poorly dressed children scattered about, nearly ghost like in appearance, blend into the backdrop. The idea was that of Russell Ledet, the photographer was Abedoyin Johnson. So why mention it at all?

Grace Actually

A Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful day to start the New Year and new decade. Well, it was a beautiful day in northern Virginia. The temperature that day was warmer than usual, the sun brighter, and the sky was perfectly clear blue. Just the day before my mom, my cousin and I had gone to the movies to see “A Beautiful Day.”

Love on a List

I spend a lot of time during the year encouraging you to share love. Love is the last of the themes for the advent season. While I know technically advent is over, we need to visit this theme. Why? Because telling you to share love sounds simple and clear, but it isn’t simple. I mean do you know exactly how to do that? I talk about it a lot and yet how often do I do it? How often do you?
