Did You See That?

Linda Soller | May 25, 2020

Inspiration is Contagious series installment #4. Did you see that rainbow the other day? Oh, man you really missed something special. We can’t see everything, but maybe we need to direct our focus in a more positive direction. So many people see the negatives and miss the good stuff. Pastor Sean asked our congregation to think of the positive things that have come from our time avoiding the coronavirus. When you are tired of feeling confined and lonely it may seem hard to see the positives. But take a deep breath and think again. Maybe you have enjoyed nature a bit more, or those conversations with your children, or meals together, or an amazing rainbow.  You might not have been available to enjoy those things before.

In Paoli, PA Hita Gupta, age 15, regularly visited nursing homes in her area. Right now, she can’t do that.

So, she puts together goody bags with puzzles, coloring books, pencils, and a note (from her 9-year-old brother Divit) offering encouragement. She bought the items with her own money and delivered them to the front doors of 23 nursing homes near where she lives.

In Hampton, NH a 3-year-old boy likes to take his elderly neighbor’s newspaper up to her porch each day. He told his parent something was wrong, there was a small stack of papers. The parent called the police and they found the neighbor had accidently become trapped in her basement. She is okay. Her hero is 3.

In Chicago, IL Jahkil Jackson, age 12, runs Project I AM which provides hygiene bags to the homeless. In Gaithersburg, MD Cavanaugh Bell, age 7, was taking small snack bags to seniors in his community. The boys met via social media and now exchange bags with each other to expand their services in both areas.

Did you see that amazing rainbow the other day?  It was there, you just needed to look.

Inspiration is contagious – Pass it on!  Share this blog with someone who needs to smile. :o) Linda

Joke #3 – What did the Horse say when he fell down?     Answer – I’ve fallen, and I can’t giddy up!
