The Big Thank You

Linda Soller | Feb 17, 2020

I’ve recently mentioned that our church is experiencing a high volume of illness, surgery, relocations etc. Individually and as a group we have been praying for strength, healing, and support. But, in the last two weeks we’ve experienced nothing short of a collective miracle. Six members were back to church following surgery and illness. Not all are out of the woods, but having them physically back with us, if only briefly, was such a blessing. One member who had retired and moved away was back for a visit. It was so good to see her smile. There was really a feeling of God smiling down saying keep praying, I hear you, and I am with you. It was time to be truly thankful.

Why is it we humans have such trouble saying thank you? That’s a rhetorical question. We seem to find it easy to complain, whine, criticize and moan about almost anything. Well, I am suggesting we try to embrace the big thank you. Keep the little simple courtesy “thank you” for sure but identify those opportunities to put the big thank you to use.

Try starting each day thanking God for three things. Too easy? Okay, so don’t repeat any of those things for a week! By the end of the week you will see how blessed you are, and you can offer up a big thank you to God for all He has done. Thank your loved ones for loving you back. That can be a bigger thank you than you know. Thank your friends for the fellowship that brightens your life. Thank your co-workers for working hard alongside you. There are just so many things to be thankful for. These past few Sundays started out like most, but ended up full of smiles, hugs, and happiness. We are still praying but there is a real sense of encouragement. This is blog number 400. Hard for me to believe. You keep reading so I will keep writing, and for all of the above I want to offer up a Big Thank You Lord!

Be humble, be grateful, and be love in our world this week! :o) Linda
