The Generation Story

Linda Soller | Oct 17, 2016

There is a group that’s meeting during October at FBC and it’s called “Show and Tell for Grown-ups.” Grown-ups gather and talk about something that has a special significance to them. Through our stories we learn about each other. It’s amazing how much you can learn. The stories and the items seem so random on the surface. This past week four of the stories dealt with the influence of and/or relationship with the story teller’s grandparent. I was one of those who spoke fondly of my Granny B and the “Rebekah by the Well” tea pot she left me. It’s not really considered a fancy item in terms of monetary value, but it seems like a nod from her to my faith and also my love of tea. To me it’s a connection between us.

As luck would have it, the grandparent stories also tied closely with my current real world experience. The afternoon before our gathering I had become a grandmother for the second time. Alexandra Grace came into the world and as the saying goes, nothing will ever be quite the same. I am looking forward to making those connections with my grandchildren over the years.

This blog will be brief, but I hope it will be impactful. Don’t wait to think back on the treasured relationships of your past. Start enjoying and building those relationships right now. No matter how strong they may seem, you will most likely wish you had done more. Once the person you love is no longer with you it will be too late. Today would be a good time to add to your generation story. What will your story be?

Welcome to the family Alexandra!   Have a great week : o)  Linda
