Never Too Late

Linda Soller | Sep 19, 2016

This past Sunday was “Back to Church Sunday” across the nation. What a great idea. Think about the times when you may have gotten out of the habit of going to church, or moved to a new area and never really found a church. Admit it, part of you didn’t want people judging you for being away so long or wondering why you were gone? Maybe you didn’t want to have to work at meeting new people. Well this past weekend was a great opportunity to go back to church, no matter why you had been away. You had the perfect excuse, it was “Back to Church Sunday” and you were just participating!

What, you missed it and didn’t get to church? Oh dear, and now I have reminded you of why you are reluctant to return. Well, I have good news for you. When I see someone return, I usually think, it’s great to see them again.  I don’t spend a lot of time wondering why they have not been around. I feel like most people are like me in that respect. We are just excited to see our old friends and acquaintances. So show up. What have you got to lose? Think of what you will gain by reuniting with a congregation of fellow believers.

Oh, you are new in the area. Afraid to show up and not know people? Hey, the worst that will happen is you’ll be ignored and left alone. If that happens you need to find a friendlier place! Ultimately you control where and when you attend church. At FBC we love to see new faces. Sometimes they come back after the first visit, and sometimes they don’t. Everyone, including you, should be where they feel comfortable in worship. It’s fine to church shop.

Okay, so this past Sunday was “Back to Church Sunday,” and maybe you went, and maybe you didn’t. Either way it is never too late to get back to church. See you there?

Have a great week!    : o)  Linda
