Are you ready?

Linda Soller | Jun 29, 2015

It hadn’t been the worst week I’ve ever had, but I was certainly feeling the strain. You know that feeling of exhaustion as you juggle all the tasks in your day. You expect to go home and rest only to remember you have to empty the dishwasher, fold the clothes, and clean the bathroom. Nothing on the “To do” list is horribly time consuming, but nothing is particularly exciting or interesting either.  It can be discouraging.

I started the day tired. I said Lord give me strength as I sat down at my desk to begin working. I opened my email to find one from a dear friend who I hadn’t heard from in a long while. The email was just a “thinking of you” kind of email. I smiled as I read it, and as I responded. A few minutes later I got an email from a work associate, Stephen, who wanted to tell me his mom, Frieda (from the March 23 blog), was doing well and had completed her chemo. He said to tell you all, “Thanks for your prayers, they worked.” What a blessing! I suddenly remembered I needed to send a note to my best friend, and she emailed back, “Hey I was just thinking about you too.” By the end of the three informal contacts I was feeling much better, a different person. Right away I knew God had heard my plea for strength. He sent it through people who are important to me.

When I was watching the news I heard Debbie Dills, the florist, who was key to the arrest of the young man who killed all those innocent people in Charleston. They asked her if she felt like a hero, she replied she was no hero. She stated she had been praying for the survivors and the families of the victims, and said she wished there was something she could do. She was driving to work and she saw him in the car she had just seen on the TV news.  She felt she had to follow him. Debbie called her boss who alerted the authorities. She said she knew God had heard the prayers in Charleston and her own. She saw herself simply as the vessel God decided to use to bring the young man to justice. Her faith rang so true. Her conviction was unquestionable. It was inspiring to see faith in action.  She knew her prayers were answered.

It is easy to get discouraged with life’s routine and the violence all around us. When we do, we know we can pray and ask for God’s help. We need to remember to say thank you when we can clearly see He has answered. We can all be vessels for God. We can’t predict how or when He may use us, but we can rest assured He will.  Are you ready?

Have a great week! :o)  Linda

Ms. Frieda – we are all so glad you are doing well, and will keep you in our prayers!
