Why me? Why now? You may be asking yourself, who let her do this? Good questions, which I will attempt to answer. I can tell you that I have gone to FBCH for a long time, (since I was 4), and I am not anywhere near that age now. I had great Sunday School teachers and was blessed to have the opportunity years later to lead the senior adult class, which included some of those same special people. That does not make me particularly qualified to write a blog, but it may explain the connection I feel to this family of Christ known as FBCH (First Baptist Church of Herndon for those just joining us). I was not your model church child.

I loved Sunday School, liked singing in the choir, and looked forward to Vacation Bible School. All that sounds fine, but I also got involved in a bunch of activitiesnotChurchfocused. Your basic type “A” personality, I was always in the middle of something. I think a lot of people think Church goers don’t really have a life or else we pretend to be something we are not. That is probably true for some, we are human after all and being human we all have some baggage. I think the honest answer to “why me?” is that I really enjoy my Drop In Class on Sundays. While I am being honest, I have to say I am not really a blog reader myself, so at first my decision seemed a touch odd even to me. Odd or not I could not stop thinking about it.

I am sure you have had something that kept eating at you and would not let go. So here I am. I must also point out that I am not a minister, which you will be able to confirm if you continue to read. I am willing and open to try new ways to serve. This week ask yourself, “what would I do if I felt compelled to?” What are you feeling compelled to do?  Help a neighbor, volunteer in your community, read a book, read your Bible, change jobs, find a job, maybe go to church? Why not pray on it? Have a good week! Linda
